The Mark of Cain – Carolyn Wells – 1920

Description:

This is another Fleming Stone detective story. A millionaire is murdered in Van Cortian Park New York and circumstances seem to point to his nephew, Kane Landon, as the murderer. The fortune of the murdered man is left to his niece, Alice Trowbridge, on condition that she marry the millionaire’s lawyer and trusted friend Judge Hoyt. But Alice loves Landon and she only consents to marry Judge Hoyt on condition that he obtains the freedom of Landon, whether the latter is innocent or guilty. Fleming Stone steps in and solves the case again.
