Description:
Paul Harley, detective-hero of some of Sax Rohmer’s previous stories, is called upon by Colonel Juan Menendez for protection. His need of it, he says, dates back to a period which he spent in Cuba where he incurred the wrath of the natives, who have since employed the art of voodoo against him. Harley takes the case, but, though he gives it his usual care, he can not prevent tragedy, and Menendez is found one night with a bullet thru his head. But Harley’s work is just starting. The discoveries and deductions that he makes reveal the fact that Menendez was not what he seemed, and so an innocent man is saved from conviction of murder.
